Curled shingles
Curled shingles are caused by inadequate attic venting. When moisture and heat build in an attic, without a way to escape through a vent, it's trapped against the bottom side of the roof deck causing the shingles to age prematurely, fade and curl. The attic ventilation should be evaluated by an experienced Roof repair company knowledgeable in building science. Certain steps can be taken to improve the air flow in the attic, such as clearing soffit vents plugged by attic insulation, installing more vents or installing an attic fan. The shingles that have minor curling can be carefully repaired with nails and roofing cement.

Nail Popped Bump
Bumped up shingle caused by a nail pop can be fixed if it hasn’t worn a hole through the shingle on top by gently slipping protective thin pieces of wood between the nail pop and the shingle above it and using a rubber mallet to set the nail back in place.

The Appearance after Repair
As long as we can find matching shingles or get close in appearance to the original shingles, the repair won’t be that noticeable because it’s usually viewed from a distance.
